Jorge Monteallegre

Jorge Monteallegre is an international award-winning cinematographer and director. His work spans music videos, commercials, digital series, feature films, and television episodes. He renowned for his distinct aesthetic, dynamic visuals, and dramatic use of sound, color, and handheld movements.

Recognized as an innovator and leader within the creative indie filmmaking community in Colombia and the USA, Jorge has directed notable feature films and documentaries, including "Devil's Breath" and "Roots of Oblivion." His films have been featured in multiple film festivals around the world.

Jorge has a strong educational background, having graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York with a major in Visual Communication and minors in Dramatic Writing and Copywriting from New York University. He has attended numerous seminars and workshops to further hone his skills and holds a Cinematography Certificate from the American Society of Cinematographers

Roots of Oblivion

Roots of Oblivion is the story of several survivors of the lahar of Armero in Colombia cause by a volcanic eruption in November of 1985. The government knew about it and did nothing to evacuate the comunity. As a result of this neglect, 25.000 people died. Now 30 years later, the survivors deal with the consequences that this event has had on their lives.
